What did I receive in the mail?

You received the wedding invitation. We decided to not send out “save the date” cards but instead went straight for the invitation. Since this wedding will require people to travel, we wanted to make sure everyone gets information about the wedding and the venue as soon as possible. Updates will be handled on the website as we get closer to the wedding day.

I don’t know Swedish, will I be able to navigate and communicate easily in Sweden?

Yes. 89% of Sweden’s population has English as their second language, so most people will be happy to get the opportunity to speak English with you.

What are some good Swedish words and phrases I can use?
  • ”Hej” or ”tjena” (shea-nah) = Hey or what up
  • ”Skål” (skoll) = Cheers
  • ”Tack” = Thank you
  • “Tännäskröket” (Ten-ehs-kruket) = Its the name of the place!
  • ”Ska vi åka skidor?” = Should we go skiing?
  • ”Nej, vi tar en öl istället!” = No, let’s have a beer instead!
Will there be a celebration held in US also?

Yes, sometime in 2025! We understand it can be a big commitment to make these travel plans so we will plan some type of get together in US also.

What is the dress code for the wedding?

Semi-formal (mörk kostym). With that said, this is a guideline and you should wear what you are comfortable with.

P.S. för svenskarna är det varmt välkommet att bära folkdräkt!

What is the weather going to be like in Tännäskröket?

In the end of March we will experience the wonderful fifth season of Sweden – ”vårvinter” or ”spring-winter”. This season brings both snow and much needed sunshine after a long, dark winter. Birds are chirping and nature, along with all Swedes, are slowly coming back to life.

The weather usually ranges from -10 to +5 degrees C (14 to 41 degrees F). At this point the days are getting longer with sunrise at 6 am and sunset at 7 pm.

Make sure to bring warm clothes, a windproof jacket, shoes that can handle some snow and ice and most importantly, your sun glasses!

Can I bring my children to the wedding?

Children are welcome to the ceremony, but during the dinner and party we would like to spend time with you. The exception is for mothers whom are breastfeeding, you are welcome to bring your baby along.

Tännäskröket looks like a great place for kids so feel free to bring along your kids and a babysitter and make this a vacation.

Do I need cash when traveling in Sweden?

No, credit card is the preferred payment method. Stick with Mastercard or Visa to be safe.

Should I buy a wedding gift?

We would prefer your presence rather than your presents! However, if you feel compelled to give a gift, then we would be grateful to receive a small contribution towards our honeymoon. More than anything, we hope that you would join us on this trip, so please don’t feel obliged in any way.
